Terms of Service

Last updated: [EFFECTIVE DATE]

These terms govern your use of TandemVoice, a phone and video interpreting service operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME] ("TandemVoice", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms on behalf of yourself and the business you represent ("you").

1. The service

TandemVoice connects you with interpreters by phone or video for conversations between English speakers and speakers of other languages, currently Spanish. You choose one of two interpreter levels:

We aim to connect every call promptly but do not guarantee that an interpreter will be available at every moment.

2. Not for emergencies

TandemVoice is not an emergency service. In an emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number first.

3. Accounts

The service is for businesses and professionals. You must give accurate account information, keep your access details secure and tell us promptly about any unauthorized use. You are responsible for calls made using your account.

4. Free minutes

New accounts receive 15 free minutes, limited to one offer per practice or firm. Free minutes have no cash value, cannot be transferred and expire [EXPIRY, e.g. 30 days after activation]. We may change or end the offer at any time for new sign-ups.

5. Prepaid minutes and payment

6. The interpreter's role

Interpreters render what is said between the parties. They do not give legal, financial or other professional advice, and they are not responsible for the decisions you make. You remain responsible for your communications with your clients or customers and for confirming important information with them.

7. Confidentiality

Interpreters are required to keep the content of calls confidential. TandemVoice is not currently offered for healthcare purposes. Do not use it for communications that involve protected health information as defined under HIPAA. You are responsible for deciding whether the service meets the legal and contractual requirements that apply to you, including any requirement to use US-based interpreters.

8. Acceptable use

You will not use the service for unlawful purposes, to harass or abuse interpreters, to record calls without the consent the law requires, or to try to disrupt or gain unauthorized access to our systems. We may suspend accounts that break these rules.

9. Disclaimers

We provide the service with reasonable skill and care. Apart from that, and to the extent the law allows, the service is provided "as is" without other warranties of any kind.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the [12] months before the claim arose.

11. Ending the service

You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or are inactive for [PERIOD]. What happens to any remaining balance is covered in section 5.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will post the new version here and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell you by email before it takes effect.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [STATE], and disputes will be handled in the courts of [COUNTY, STATE].
